EASTERN THREAT
The hottest episode archive around of the hottest podcast around!
Eastern Threat 161 by Superjohan (6 Feb 2010)
New shit comin' up! Here's a bunch of cool tracks by artists such as Kraftwerk, Audion, Anthony Shakir, I:Cube, Stone, Four Tops and more.Eastern Threat 160 by Ghetto B-Boyz (11 Jan 2010)
The first (and hopefully not last!) episode of 2010! This is the live/DJ set I played in Riga at Space:Garage in October last year. Not very happy with it myself, because I sort of half-assed it because it wasn't the kind of set I really wanted to play but was kinda expected of me. There's a longer story on my blog about it. Anyway, it doesn't TRULY suck and you might enjoy it! There's some good tunes in there!Eastern Threat 159 by Superjohan (27 Dec 2009)
I guess this still is obligatory for every mixshow and podcast out there: a best of 2009 compilation! So yeah, these are my favorite things that were released last year. If it included great stuff I *heard* but wasn't released this year, the show would be much, much longer...Eastern Threat 158 by Superjohan (23 Dec 2009)
Screw this monthly release bullshit, we release when we want to! So, here's my mix from November's Super Sexy Disco. A sloppy mix of house, techno, disco, and a bit of metal. Yeah, it gets a bit weird at times, but there are some hot frigging tunes in this thing!Eastern Threat 157 by Timppa DJ (6 Dec 2009)
The episode for December 2009 is the first mix from the Super Sexy Disco event in November, mixed by Timppa DJ. It's a fairly eclectic affair, like we've come to expect from the man. My mix is coming next month.Eastern Threat 156 by Otto and Aki (9 Nov 2009)
The episode for November 2009 is brought to you by Otto and Aki. Thanks guys! The mixes from last weekend's Super Sexy Disco will be posted later. It was a good party!Eastern Threat 155 by Superjohan (11 Oct 2009)
No explanations, no excuses, no bullshit; here's the episode for October 2009.Eastern Threat 154 by Superjohan (6 Sep 2009)
It's September, and that means it's time for another mix! This one consists of, unsurprisingly, a bunch of techno and disco with a bit of electro. Artists include Wax, I-f, James T. Cotton, Model 500 and Space.Eastern Threat 153 by Superjohan (2 Aug 2009)
The show for August 2009 is here! It's a mix of sweet house and techno, guaranteed to please everyone's ears and things! (Terms and conditions apply) Artists include Nebraska, Rick Wade, Robert Hood, Audion, CJ Bolland and Carl Taylor.Eastern Threat 152 by Superjohan (5 Jul 2009)
The show for July 2009 is a mixed bag of old and modern electronics, with a slightly dark or experimental edge. Artists in this episode include Pan Sonic, Suicide, Perspects, Oppenheimer Analysis, Cabaret Voltaire and Dopplereffekt.Eastern Threat 151 by Superjohan (28 Jun 2009)
This mix is Smultronix Volume Two, a mix I released on CDR last year (copies are still available at supersupersuper.com yo!) and I'm releasing it here now to announce something: Eastern Threat is going monthly, starting July 2009. Explanation: I'm unemployed, which means I have no extra money, which means I'm unable to buy new music. A contributing factor is the lack of guest mixes, but that's just rather bad work on my part. Hopefully this will mean that I'll just put more work into my mixes! So, from now on, Eastern Threat will be released the first Sunday of each month, with some hot cool (ooh contradictory!) single tracks on other Sundays. Also, this mix is awesome, even if I say so myself, and if you're a cool person, you'll buy the CD as well! Yeah!Eastern Threat 150 by Superjohan (21 Jun 2009)
Episode 150! We have truly come far. This episode kicks off with Love-N-Music by RIS, because love and music is what Eastern Threat stands for! If you want your typical boring techno and house mixes go to some other site. Funny that when for instance Resident Advisor releases something that's not a boring purist minimal techno mix, tons of people whine about how it's different. Holy shit, we're being exposed to music we might not have heard otherwise! Well. This is a bit of a blend with various kinds of music that I've been listening to lately. Check it out for some perspective.Eastern Threat 149 by Superjohan (14 Jun 2009)
Hot fresh tracks with some older goodies. Techno and house peppered with some experimental electronics and a lil' bit of soul. Artists include Cobblestone Jazz, Kai Alce, Telex, Reggie Dokes, and others.Eastern Threat 148 by Superjohan (7 Jun 2009)
The first episode of the summer of 2009! Yes, summer is here, and it's totally not warm here in Turku! After several days of rain and general doom and gloom, here's a bunch of tracks that are good. No, they're great! Fantastic! And so, we present to you some music by artists such as The Micronauts, Freiland, Kid606, Ryoji Ikeda, Suicide and Jeff Mills.Eastern Threat 147 by Superjohan (31 May 2009)
This episode's a little conceptual experiment: instead of painstakingly choosing awesome tunes for this show, I let the mighty force of computing make the choices for me! That is, I filled my iPod Shuffle with random stuff, connected the audio to my computer, and hit play! The results are made of win, so to speak. Artists include All Smiles, DJ Assault, Matthew Dear, Method Man, Pan Sonic, Sonic Youth and Tom Waits.Eastern Threat 146 by Dan Silverman (24 May 2009)
What we have here is a quite eclectic mix by first timer Dan Silverman, with tracks by artists like Tab Two, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, A Perfect Circle, DJ Format, Sneaker Pimps, Junkie XL and The Herbaliser. Check it out!Eastern Threat 145 by Superjohan (17 May 2009)
Now then, some fresh tracks! There's been a lot of great music coming out lately, and here's a nice little taster, padded with some awesome classic tracks. Artists this episode: Junior Boys, Gui Boratto, The Field, Snd, WhoMadeWho, Plan-E, Arthur Russell, John Coltrane, Napalm Death, Autechre.Eastern Threat 144 by Superjohan and Timppa DJ (10 May 2009)
Here's the last Super Sexy Disco mix, a lil' collaboration between me and Timppa DJ. In other words, we just played some cool (and less cool) records after each other, without much consideration for style or really anything else. We started listening to Arthur Russell after this, so it really was just time to go home. So, some music by Sylvester, Ladyhawke, M83, Autechre, First Choice, and others.Eastern Threat 143 by Superjohan (3 May 2009)
The posting of this mix can be considered as some sort of public service; advice on what kind of mix to never, ever post on the Internet. It has its moments, but for the most part it's shamefully bad. At least to me. Anyway, the tracks are really good (including one or two guilty pleasures, figure it out) including such hot stuff as Belle Epoque, Ron Trent, International Music System (again!), Omar-S, Prince, and Umek. Enjoy, if you can...Eastern Threat 142 by DSH (25 Apr 2009)
We can release episodes early too! "It has come to my attention that not everybody knows what a breakbeat is." /Poxy Music - Our Break/ ...So it's time for a breakbeat lesson to make you jump. Pump up the volume and let the bassline buzz in your head. Tracks by the Autobots, Screwface, Freestylers, Rogue Element and many more, mixed by DSH.Eastern Threat 141 by Antti (20 Apr 2009)
This episode is a day late, but for a good reason. You see, for some people, today is a very special day, which is why Antti has compiled this great mix of tunes related to the theme. I'll let the listener figure out what it's all about, which shouldn't be too hard...Eastern Threat 140 by Timppa DJ (12 Apr 2009)
The Super Sexy Disco is over now, and we have a few mixes to present to you. First up is Timppa DJ's mix, and there's a joint mix effort by him and me two weeks from now. This mix includes (at least) music by Ladyhawke, The Presets, MSTRKRFT, Bruce Springsteen, and many more that I can't even remember.Eastern Threat 139 by Superjohan (5 Apr 2009)
The Super Sexy Disco draws ever closer, and the records I've chosen to take with me are dying to be played out loud! I hope everyone who's able will come. Make the effort! In the mean time, listen to these tracks by International Music System, Simple Minds, Project Sandro, Amin Peck and others.Eastern Threat 138 by Superjohan (29 Mar 2009)
It's time for the hottest party mix of the decade! That's right, this mix will rock your pants off with a danceathon you've never seen the like of before! Woo! .. so yeah, it's an hour of ambient music. Have a cup of tea, sit in a comfy chair and listen to these wonderful sounds by artists like Jeremy Bible, Stephen Walter, Ryonkt, Astrowind and others.Eastern Threat 137 by Jussi (22 Mar 2009)
It's time for Jussi's third Eastern Threat, this time with a collection of songs from that glorious decade of decades, the 1980s. Jussi himself describes this episode as "the 80s as I heard it", which is interesting considering one of the tracks is from 1990! But I digress...Eastern Threat 136 by Superjohan (15 Mar 2009)
This episode contains no less than four exclusive tracks/edits by yours truly, of which a couple might even be released properly at some point in the future! Yes indeed, it's a mix of house and techno, with artists like Soundstream, Cobblestone Jazz and Schatrax.Eastern Threat 135 by Superjohan (8 Mar 2009)
This week's episode is a mixed bag consisting of electro, dub techno and some general mayhem. So be prepared! Artists include Arthur Russell, The Sight Below, and Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft. Check the site for the full tracklist, and leave a comment too! Also, the next Super Sexy Disco is on its way! More info soon on supersupersuper.com.Eastern Threat 134 by Superjohan (1 Mar 2009)
In a most timely manner, here's the Eastern Threat Best of 2008 episode! Of course, the selection is highly subjective and you might not agree, so go ahead and submit your own favorites (in the comments or in the form of an episode) if you really care that much! Anyway, some of the artists are Moritz von Oswald, Wolfgang Voigt, 2562, The Hasbeens, Byetone, DJ Sega and LOADS more.Eastern Threat 133 by Dr. Sector (22 Feb 2009)
Dr. Sector is the glitchy alter ego of a Finnish drum'n'bass producer. He was kind enough to provide us a 60 minute mixture of glitchy noises, fat basslines and funky, chopped-to-fuck beats. Enjoy!Eastern Threat 132 by Raimo (15 Feb 2009)
This is the second episode by Raimo, and he tells us it's a collection of his dancefloor favorites, both new and old. He also assures us that these tunes are great for both coding and doing the dishes, and I believe him! Thanks to Raimo for this show!Eastern Threat 131 by Robert (8 Feb 2009)
Woohoo, the second week IN A ROW where the episode of the week isn't compiled by me! We're on a roll here, people! Let's keep this going! Yes, Robert provided us with a rockin' episode, and I'm sure every regular listener of Eastern Threat will like it.Eastern Threat 130 by gr (1 Feb 2009)
Thanks a whole bunch to gr for providing this all-techno episode on such short notice! I didn't get a playlist, which doesn't really bother me, but he promised me that this episode rocks... and it does! Thanks again!Eastern Threat 129 by Superjohan (25 Jan 2009)
Yes, another Sunday hangover mix! In this mix, I play more recently acquired records, along with some old records my dad kindly donated to me, including some hot Swedish and Finnish oldies! Some artists featured in this mix: The Glimmers, Legowelt vs Orgue Electronique, Hector, and Erotic Drum Band.Eastern Threat 128 by Superjohan (18 Jan 2009)
Don't you just love it? The smell of newly acquired records? I do! And here I present to you some of my recent findings, along with a hot preview of the next Supersupersuper release. (no points for guessing which track it is!) Right then, see you next week!Eastern Threat 127 by The Mystery F (9 Jan 2009)
The Mystery F: "I had mixed feelings when I was mixing this episode. You can certainly hear it. It is possible to transform between moods of Infected Mushroom to Imatran Voima or something completely different. Other artists include but not limited to: Tricky, Aimee Mann, Dark Machines."Eastern Threat 126 by Superjohan (4 Jan 2009)
... and here's the FIRST Eastern Threat of the new year! The hottest podcast returns with some sweet house and disco by artists like Ann-Margret, Jazzanova, Z-Factor, Ronnie Jones and more. Here's to another year of damn cool tunes and releases!Eastern Threat 125 by Superjohan (28 Dec 2008)
Here it is, the last episode of the year! Slightly hungover and tired so no feeble attempts at mixing this time... just some damn good music! Giorgio Moroder, Tony Allen, Sweet Cream, and many others! See you next year!Eastern Threat 124 by Jumalauta (24 Dec 2008)
This episode is our xmas present to y'all, a proper golden oldie! Indeed, this is The Jumalauta Hour's legendary xmas special, originally released in 2005! (The Jumalauta Hour was the predecessor to Eastern Threat) This is practically a collection of the awesomest xmas songs ever, with stuff like Eazy E and Dynamix II. Merry xmas!Eastern Threat 123 by Superjohan (20 Dec 2008)
Less technical difficulties in this one, but the music's also totally rad! Features some really cool stuff like Drexciya, Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, and others. Also a few tracks from some hot German compilation from the 70s (I guess) called Rock Beat Soul! Check it!Eastern Threat 122 by Tatu (14 Dec 2008)
There were a bunch of technical difficulties during the recording of this episode, among others both my decks and mixer all being complete assholes. Anyway, the music in here's pretty good, even though the Sigur Ros track sounds like shit! (skippety skippety skip) Hot diggity dog.Eastern Threat 121 by Superjohan (7 Dec 2008)
As a somewhat slight change of pace, this mix starts off with some electro, moves into house. After this, you can virtually hear me go "fuck it" and just go ahead and drop some disco bombs instead. Artists are Egyptian Lover, Arabian Prince, Andrea True Connection, Loose Joints, DJ Godfather and others.Eastern Threat 120 by Superjohan (30 Nov 2008)
I've been shopping for new (as in new to me) records lately, mostly at flea markets and used record stores, and here is the result of said shopping! Mostly disco with cheesy cough medicine ad funk in the mix. Cinnamon, Esther Williams, Flux Of Pink Indians, Me And You and others...Eastern Threat 119 by Ghetto B-Boyz (23 Nov 2008)
This is the last one of the Supersupersuper 005 sets: the Ghetto B-Boyz live set! I do have a clean recording of this too, but I decided that this microphone-recorded version had the coolest sound, and perfectly displays the raw GBB sound! Remember to check the new GBB EP (with clean versions of some of the live tracks) on iTunes soon! Next week, something not related to the month-old party!Eastern Threat 118 by Tatu (17 Nov 2008)
Aaaand here's Tatu's (aka Timppa DJ) set from Supersupersuper 005! It's also the longest, and the most diverse collection of music that we've got! The levels are a bit crazy but who cares. Use your volume controls! Next week, the Ghetto B-Boyz live set!Eastern Threat 117 by Marvelous F (9 Nov 2008)
Here's Marvelous F's fabulous trance (I think) set from Supersupersuper 005! It's full of ... trance, and stuff! It's also F's first time with real actual decks, and he did pretty damn well! Next week, it's Tatu's turn to show us his DJing chops!Eastern Threat 116 by Superjohan (2 Nov 2008)
Oh hi! We have no less than FOUR mixes from Supersupersuper 005, the party last Tuesday! This is the first one, which just happens to be mine! A lot of the tracks have been heard on Eastern Threat before, but there ARE some new ones too. Next week, Marvelous F's trance mix!Eastern Threat 115 by Superjohan (26 Oct 2008)
Sorry, I've been too busy with work and.. preparing for my live set at Supersupersuper (whoa!) to do a proper episode, so you get this short little thing instead. It's very good though, with tracks by User, DNA, Simian Mobile Disco and others! SO! If you're in the Turku area on Tuesday the 28th, be sure to visit Supersupersuper at Sode! Email me for instructions on how to get there if you're unsure.Eastern Threat 114 by Superjohan (20 Oct 2008)
Whoa, I almost forgot to record an episode due to reading tons of pointless trivia all day. Quite a typical hangover activity for me! Last night's Butane at Pikku-Torre was good, and here's a little mix that has nothing to do with last night! Disco and techno, my usual schtick. Enjoy!Eastern Threat 113 by Tatu (12 Oct 2008)
Confession: I don't think I knew any of the artists Tatu played in this mix at my apartment! Well, except for MGMT. The music's damn nice though. We also did some experimenting with my new mic, with .. interesting results! Check it out!Eastern Threat 112 by Superjohan (5 Oct 2008)
This episode of Eastern Threat features some very explicit content and may be harmful to small children and humanity in general... ha, not really! Instead, this episode contains really good music by artists such as Visage, Experience Unlimited, Silver Apples, Gez Varley, and others! Next week: the silliest episode ever!Eastern Threat 111 by drS (28 Sep 2008)
I met this dude last weekend at Stream, as I went up to him drunk out of my mind screaming "HOLDEN" as he played "Idiot" by Holden. Afterwards, I demanded a mix to release on Eastern Threat, and here the man actually delivered! Apparently I have unforeseen powers of persuasion. So! Enjoy.Eastern Threat 110 by Superjohan (21 Sep 2008)
Righto! Back from Stream Five and way too tired to write a decent description or even bang out a proper mix. SO! Here are some tracks by Morgan Geist, Christian Prommer, Oppenheimer Analysis, Sweet, and many others. WAEREastern Threat 109 by Superjohan (14 Sep 2008)
This might sound a bit egotistical, but I think this episode turned out pretty good! Awesome music, with artists like Gui Boratto, Ghetto B-Boyz (again with the egoism I suppose), Cerrone, Shalamar, and many others. Strange how every episode seems to be heavily disco-based these days! There were some weird issues during HAPPY Radio but who cares. This is a good one!Eastern Threat 108 by Superjohan (7 Sep 2008)
This is an episode with three REALLY LONG tracks! The feeling could be described mostly as ambient, with a hint of darkness in the middle. The artists are, in order of appearance: Vladislav Delay, Sky Burial, and Brian Eno.Eastern Threat 107 by Aegis (31 Aug 2008)
Aegis: "So I had flu this morning and while I was having a massive diarrhea dump I had an idea of making a psytrance episode for ET, and this came out. Enjoy or not." He really spares no detail, does he!Eastern Threat 106 by Superjohan (24 Aug 2008)
Righto! For once, more focus on new music, with some classics (?) thrown in for good measure. Artists include Wolfgang Voigt (twice!), Alva Noto, Kaito, and many others!Eastern Threat 105 by Superjohan (17 Aug 2008)
This mix didn't turn out quite the way I intended, which anyone with ears is able to notice, but uh, enjoy the tracks anyway! Artists featured are Klein And MBO, Paul Parker, Sexual Harrassment, Maurice Joshua, and others. See you next week, with a better mix! (hopefully)Eastern Threat 104 by Superjohan (10 Aug 2008)
I felt like it was time to record an old school house mix, and here it is! This is less a collection of rarities and super classics, and more a personal selection of favorites, so don't read too much into it. Still, the tracks are fantastic!
1. Phortune - Can You Feel The Bass?
2. Armando - Downfall
3. Maurice - This Is Acid
4. Frankie Knuckles and Jamie Principle - Baby Wants To Ride
5. Lil' Louis - Video Clash
6. Lidell Townsell - I'll Make You Dance
7. Adonis - No Way Out
8. Phuture - Your Only Friend
9. Hercules - 7 Ways To Jack
10. Tyree - Acid Crash
11. Joe Smooth - Promised Land
12. Jesse Saunders - On And OnEastern Threat 103 by Superjohan (3 Aug 2008)
Alright, another weekend, another event! This time, I was at Assembly 2008 in Helsinki, Finland, and it was.. well, different from UMF5. Anyway, I cheated a bit by recording this mix BEFORE I left, guessing (correctly) that I'd be way too tired to record a mix when I get back home. So, here's a rad mix with tracks from Man 2 Man, Diplo, Neu!, Zombi and others.Eastern Threat 102 by Superjohan (27 Jul 2008)
UMF5 (Uuden Musiikin Festivaali/The Festival for New Music) was in Turku, Finland this weekend, and Eastern Threat was there! Well, not as a performer or reporter or anything, just a regular visitor. We saw some pretty rad live acts and some less rad ones, and here's a mix with the cream of the crop of performers (and tracks I heard DJs play :), mixed in the safety of my own home! Yeah!Eastern Threat 101 by Superjohan (20 Jul 2008)
Here's a quick and rushed mix for you with some really great tracks by artists like Anarchic System, Partial Arts, Ian Pooley and others. Traktor Scratch messed some things up for me, for instance it interrupted the first track and started playing another in reverse in the middle of the song, but hey, it doesn't matter! Like I always (well, sometimes) say, it can be fixed in post-production...Eastern Threat 100c by Superjohan (13 Jul 2008)
This is my (almost) three hour mix filled mostly with disco and techno. Trainwrecks and bad mixing in general. Don't drink and mix, unless you want to!Eastern Threat 100b by Tatu (13 Jul 2008)
Tatu's mix with indie rock and songs played at the wrong speed, amongst other things. His first episode!Eastern Threat 100a by Antti (13 Jul 2008)
Antti's part with some smooooth soul and things.Eastern Threat 99 by Superjohan (6 Jul 2008)
yow! here's another awesome episode for you, with tracks by kano, change, matthew dear, harmonia, orx, and others! Eastern Threat 100 is due out next week, and it's gonna be a scorcher! also, it's not too late to contribute, so contact me!Eastern Threat 98 by Ilkka (29 Jun 2008)
lo and behold! Ilkka is back with another episode, which the man himself describes as a "jazz, funk and soul extravaganza!" artists include art blakey, curtis mayfield, les gammas and thievery corporation. also, episode 100 is coming soon! if you want to contribute, contact me! (the email's on the page)Eastern Threat 97 by Superjohan (22 Jun 2008)
more totally rad shit! after last night's mad midsummer party, i spent a part of my hangover day today to put together this episode, with artists like cepia, arpanet, funckarma, ronnie walker and supermayer trying to make damn sure you have a good time!Eastern Threat 96 by Superjohan (17 Jun 2008)
here's a new episode again, just a bit late! but with hot disco, techno, reggae etc tracks by artists such as flight of the conchords, byetone, cut copy and erotic drum band, who cares about deadlines?Eastern Threat 95 by Ilkka (8 Jun 2008)
Ilkka was kind enough to provide us with a sweet deep house/nu jazz/etc mix! rock on! artists include swag, steve silver, dj replee, mr. oizo, st. germain and hacienda.Eastern Threat 94 by Superjohan (1 Jun 2008)
william basinski is an american composer, clarinetist, saxophonist, and sound and video artist. (thanks, wikipedia!) he's made some awesome ambient albums, consisting mostly of tape loops and short wave radio experimentation. the disintegration loops are great albums, for instance. so, here's Eastern Threat's william basinski appreciation episode, with excerpts from the aforementioned disintegration loops, el camino real, melancholia, the river, variations for piano and tape, and others.Eastern Threat 93 by Superjohan (28 May 2008)
hey there! i was going to have some mixes for you from the supersupersuper party, but as it turns out, all i got was hours worth of the traktor scratch control signal! thanks a lot! that was gonna be like a few episodes worth of stuff. anyway, here's some cool music, from artists like denki groove, cut copy, liquid liquid and four tet.Eastern Threat 92 by Superjohan (18 May 2008)
re-edits are (and have been) a popular way of bootlegging: that way the bootlegger leaves at least something that's his own on the songs, while at the same time extending or just plain modifying a song. here are a few (mostly disco) edits that i've been digging recently. i was going to add that dope theo parrish/sylvester joint but i think it's already been in an episode before. anyway, enjoy!Eastern Threat 91 by Gary (11 May 2008)
Gary: "the hardest classics of the last five years from the true hardcore scene legends come out at night, from italy through the netherlands and the US to japan."Eastern Threat 90 by Superjohan (4 May 2008)
springtime is here! finally! here's some fabulous music for you to enjoy along with the absolutely fantastic weather outside. grab some beers, a few friends, and go sit by the river! artists like 2562, saint tropez, modeselektor, droids and b12 will surely make you happy.Eastern Threat 89 by Superjohan (28 Apr 2008)

this is another hip hop episode, provided by Otto. a whole bunch of rad tracks, from all around the world! .. hey, don't forget to come to supersupersuper the party next month! check supersupersuper.comEastern Threat 87 by Superjohan (13 Apr 2008)
yes yes, a new episode full of minimal techno and whatnot! we have some really hot tracks from dudes such as moritz von oswald, reinhard voigt, robert babicz, partial arts, and many more! next week: an episode with no techno!Eastern Threat 86 by Superjohan (6 Apr 2008)
it's time for some pure old school sleazy sexiness! that's right, some damn dirty disco and funk classics, where the lyrics might not be explicit, but the feeling sure is! smooch! also, remember to check out DOPETRAQ!Eastern Threat 85 by mikko (30 Mar 2008)
here's a little episode created for us by mikko, with a whole bunch of disco and funk! the artists include famous fellas such as funkadelic, rick james, cameo, and zapp and roger. yeah!Eastern Threat 84 by Superjohan (23 Mar 2008)
here's a wonderfully random collection of really cool tunes, in an episode i like to call "random treats for march"! artists include matthew dear, bonde do role, sparks, whomadewho, and more. a bunch of techno this time!Eastern Threat 83 by Otto (17 Mar 2008)
i'm way too tired to think of a description and Otto didn't give me one, so you'll have to think of one yourself! the title of the mp3 Otto gave me was "slow music" though, so maybe that'll help you out.Eastern Threat 82 by Antti + nfc (9 Mar 2008)
now, time to go back to the 90s, and the superstars leading the way are Antti and nfc! these boys are rocking some mad hot eurodance tracks, in quite a departure from last weeks episode. party on!Eastern Threat 81 by Superjohan (3 Mar 2008)
this is one of the loudest Eastern Threat episodes, along with the excellent episode 33 by Juho. featuring some great power electronics and noise by acts such as genocide organ, navicon torture technologies, anenzephalia, halthan and haus arafna.Eastern Threat 80 by Antti (24 Feb 2008)
Antti: "music you'd hear in a crappy night club while getting totally wasted on overpriced drinks. nope not club rap and rnb, sorry to fans of the genres, but instead some mtv house hits."Eastern Threat 79 by Superjohan (17 Feb 2008)
iskelmä is a fairly shitty radio station here in finland that plays horrible finnish music, horrible foreign music and sometimes some fairly good foreign music, and the very occasional decent or really funny finnish song. here is a collection of the best tunes i have heard on iskelmä.Eastern Threat 78 by Roz (10 Feb 2008)
Roz provided us with a mix with some hot techno and tech house tracks, and this mix is called "vääntöruuvi". artists include cirez d, chris liebing, dave clarke, and many more.Eastern Threat 77 by Antti (3 Feb 2008)
the description Antti gave me was "finnish hip hop music", so there you go!Eastern Threat 76 by The Former Jumalauta Hour Team (26 Jan 2008)
a bunch of us old Jumalauta hour peeps got together and decided to create another Jumalauta hour style episode! the concept behind the Jumalauta hour was that each person submits just one song, therefore creating a cool blend of music, and the basis for Eastern Threat. so! if you missed the Jumalauta hour (i'm guessing you didn't, based on listener numbers) here's another hot Jumalauta hour episode for you! see it as jmlhour 16 or something. enjoy!Eastern Threat 75 by Superjohan (20 Jan 2008)
it was time to hit the decks again, and this time i whipped up a slightly more focused mix than last time, containing mostly disco and some hot edits. (not by me, though!) some of the artists are evelyn thomas, drrtyhaze, boys town gang, d-train, betty botox, and gino soccio.Eastern Threat 74 by Superjohan (13 Jan 2008)
this is the first mix i've ever mixed with decks and vinyl, so the mixing's a bit sketchy at best. i've had decks for just a few weeks now, and i'm still practicing! the tracks featured are fairly awesome though, with artists like bangers and cash, uusitalo, dopplereffekt, betty botox, xxxchange, and more.Eastern Threat 73 by Superjohan and Peter (5 Jan 2008)
.. and the new year has arrived! for the first episode in 2008, me and Peter prepared a hot little episode we call "golden gabber greats". it features old (like, at least 10 years!) gabber tracks from our favorite compilations we used to buy from Anttila for very little money. ah, those were the days. check it out!Eastern Threat 72 by Superjohan (31 Dec 2007)
happy new year! this episode is such a variety pack that i can't even remember half of the artists involved! but what better way to celebrate a new year than with hot tunes by artists such as armand van helden, yellow magic orchestra, pharrell williams, and adult? no such way, i tells ya! here's to another great year for Eastern Threat and you! see you in 2008...Eastern Threat 71 by Superjohan (22 Dec 2007)
hey there, guys'n'gals! here's another techno episode, since we as some sort of weird tradition don't celebrate xmas around these parts of the podcast world. holy! so, here are some hot tunes by artists such as the field, luca agnelli, burger/voigt, and daso. have a nice xmas! or, as some dude wrote on the toilet wall at work, roc'k roll!Eastern Threat 70 by Janne (16 Dec 2007)
Janne: "some good tracks played one after another. lots of beatiful beats and moments, but to spoil the ending, i have to say it gets a bit trashy at one point. oh boy!" oh, and the super sexy disco was great! thanks to everyone that showed up! there'll probably be another Eastern Threat party in the spring, stay tuned...Eastern Threat 69 by Lauri (11 Dec 2007)
Lauri: "soundtrack to the world of hackers". whatever that means! also, remember the super sexy disco on friday! it's gonna be awesome! http://rm.infa.fi/ssd/Eastern Threat 68 by Jori (5 Dec 2007)
Jori: "an eclectic sampling of disarray".Eastern Threat 67 by Daniel (25 Nov 2007)
Daniel: "this mix is a theme mix of sorts, centered around dreamlike songs. with artists ranging from current 93 to pink floyd to lustmord, this episode explores music that evokes dreamlike images, whether nightmarish or soothingly pleasant. enjoy!"Eastern Threat 66 by Superjohan (18 Nov 2007)
this crazy mishmash of songs starts off with plastikman, goes right into midnight juggernauts, flips to some mad krautrock type shit, goes nuts to run dmc, enjoys haus arafna, and ends with abc. what the hell! this rocks!Eastern Threat 65 by Takomo (11 Nov 2007)
the description Otto from Takomo gave me was "lol dubstep". so i suppose that's what this episode consists of! dubstep, mixed by Takomo. woo!Eastern Threat 64 by Superjohan (4 Nov 2007)
more awesome music, selected by me. features hot artists like dave the drummer, trio, hot chip, delta 5 and oval. rock on!Eastern Threat 63 by Superjohan (27 Oct 2007)
get on the funk train! this train rides to turku, finland on the 14th of december, for a hot disco party arranged by Eastern Threat and infå! while you ride, have a listen to this mix to hear what's in store: incredibly hot tunes and horrendously sloppy mixing! new and old music. lovely!Eastern Threat 62 by Superjohan (22 Oct 2007)
another episode of complete randomness but awesome music, with artists like anthony rother, sparks, pan sonic, death from above 1979, and many others.Eastern Threat 61 by Robert (14 Oct 2007)
Robert: "this episode does NOT contain a single song by radiohead." other than that short description, i'll leave it up to the listener to figure this episode out! (the birthday episode has been postponed)Eastern Threat v6 by Lauri (12 Oct 2007)
Lauri prepared another video episode, this time consisting only of demoscene related material: a few demos, a few 64k intros, one for amiga, and the rest for dos. enjoy the show!Eastern Threat 60 by Superjohan (7 Oct 2007)
whoa! looks like we missed our own birthday! that's what being really busy with other things does to you, i suppose. so, while you wait for the proper birthday bash episode, have this episode instead. it has hot tracks by artists like mijk van dijk, le tigre, navicon torture technologies, and prince. see you next week!Eastern Threat 59 by Jussi (1 Oct 2007)
édition francophone: this issue of Eastern Threat takes you to the beautiful but slightly melancholic france. the following hour is filled with music in the fabulous french language. the genres vary from (post-)punk to reggae and electro. obviously the famous french chanson is not absent. there are classics from the past decades as well as songs which top the latest french charts. enjoy the orchestrations, bon voyage!Eastern Threat 58 by Superjohan (23 Sep 2007)
even more minimal techno! it never ends. but bear with me, the songs are great! artists include roberto rodriguez, gui boratto, intus, minilogue and good groove.Eastern Threat 57 by Janne (17 Sep 2007)
Janne: "this is a small drum'n'bass mix i recorded some months ago with mostly dark technoish tracks. this was supposed to be my entry for the stealthunit.net's d'n'b mix contest, but i wasn't totally happy with the result and didn't even bother to send it to contest organizers after all. maybe i have should, but here it is for you to listen!"Eastern Threat 56 by Otto (17 Sep 2007)
Otto provided us with some emo and indie rock stuff! artists include: tokyo police club, elliott smith, further seems forever, peeping tom, smashing pumpkins and others.Eastern Threat 55 by Superjohan (19 Aug 2007)
some of my favorite acid tracks, unmixed because i’m a lazy bastard with an artificial deadline for episode releases. this is the stuff that has influenced Ghetto B-Boyz / fullflava the most, and artists include woody mcbride, goïo, beverly hills 808303, choose and nick east.Eastern Threat 54 by Superjohan (12 Aug 2007)
Eastern Threat ♥ wolfgang voigt. a somewhat special episode with tracks only by wolfgang voigt, in his many aliases, such as gas, freiland, mike ink, love inc. and others. hope you like it!Eastern Threat 53 by Superjohan (5 Aug 2007)
hi ho, here’s some more techno again. sorry, i’m hooked. more random mayhem soon again... after my wolfgang voigt tribute episode, which will be released some time in the future! anyway, this episode features music from artists such as the rice twins, maxime dangles, snuten, basteroid, and others. rock it!Eastern Threat 52 by Superjohan (29 Jul 2007)

episode 50, folks! we’ve come pretty far, but this isn’t a special episode, oh no. that’s reserved for the 1-year episode, which is due out sometime in october! this episode is more like Eastern Threat 48 part 2, since this episode contains a few more current minimal techno / tech house / something tracks. enjoy, and let’s hope that we’ll hit episode 100!Eastern Threat 49 by Skrebbel (8 Jul 2007)
according to Skrebbel, this episode “contains quality music of the past and of the future, but not drum and bass and nothing finnish either.” artists include bit machine, soulwax and of course okkie/limp ninja.Eastern Threat 48 by Superjohan (1 Jul 2007)
this is a mix of the newest and coolest minimal techno around (and some other stuff that’s not exactly new), so i’m sure you’ll like it! speaking of nothing, one day i’m definitely going to make an episode called “sounds at the beach”. damn iweb. a new site for Eastern Threat is already in planning stages. django!Eastern Threat 47 by Jori (25 Jun 2007)
it sure took a while, but Jori finally made us a threat! he says it’s a WILD BLEND (paraphrased from finnish), so be sure to check it out! (i’m not gonna spoil it by giving you the tracklist!)Eastern Threat 46 by Pekka (18 Jun 2007)
bze's second mix for Eastern Threat continues the triphop theme, this time murky and dangerous soundscapes inspired by film noir, detective stories, secret agents and all alike. put on your trenchcoat and shades, load your 9mm and dive down to the 47 minutes of jazz-ridden heavy groove with a smoky tint of the underworld. for your ears only.Eastern Threat 45 by Peter (11 Jun 2007)
Peter: “grab your skateboards and thrash around with a bit of thrash metal straight from the 80s! including all your favorites like testament, death angel and flotsam and jetsam.”Eastern Threat 44 by Teemu (4 Jun 2007)
Teemu finally gave us an episode, and it’s a good one. have a listen, enjoy, send us your episode and be a superstar, just like the rest of us cool dudes!Eastern Threat 43 by Janne (28 May 2007)
Janne: “intergalactix! this weeks episode from Janne kicks on with breaks tunes and finally ends up burning the dance floor with drum'n'bass action. songs are not mixed together, so hope you like them, because every one of them is rolling for a quite long time to your ears!”Eastern Threat 42 by Superjohan (21 May 2007)
sorry to disappoint, but the simulaatio cd didn’t happen. but have no fear, we’re definitely gonna make a hot compact disc for either assembly or stream this year! anyway, here’s a quick little mix (the tracks aren’t even mixed together, heh) i put together for everyone’s enjoyment. next week’s mix will be by someone else than me, i promise!Eastern Threat 41 by Superjohan (14 May 2007)
now a little mix by me to promote a mix cd the Eastern Threat crew is putting together for the simulaatio demoparty held in varkaus the coming weekend! the cd will include a part of this mix, and small mixes by other Eastern Threat regulars. it’s gonna be great! who knows, we might put up a few of the cds on the blog or whatever.Eastern Threat 40 by Antti (7 May 2007)
the best of eurovision song contest. Antti: “get ready for this year's eurovision song contest by listening to the best songs of both this year and all time!”Eastern Threat 39 by Otto (30 Apr 2007)
this time Otto has prepared a nice cooled down blend of downtempo, broken beat and nu jazz for those who like to chill out and have a damn good cup of coffee. so you can listen to it right away if you're not going out tonight on mayday's eve, or you can listen to it tomorrow to cure your hangover.Eastern Threat 38 by Superjohan (23 Apr 2007)
this episode consists mostly of ambient and other chilled out electronics for your enjoyment, put together by me. artists include cordouan, pluramon, snd and other fine performers.Eastern Threat 37 by Otto (16 Apr 2007)
Otto: “this is the new pendulum special mix, prepare for 60 minutes of high quality, cutting edge, 21st century drum’n’bass music.”
oh that Otto! i don’t get the joke (if there is any), and the episode’s not even 60 minutes long. i just publish these things.Eastern Threat 36 by Superjohan (9 Apr 2007)
hey ho, another mix by me! this time it’s a real variety pack, starting off with a lil’ ditty by alva noto and ryuichi sakamoto. the party then kicks off with some mr. oizo, followed by some hot house and techno classix! ooh, i’m sure you’ll love it. except probably the mixing.Eastern Threat 35 by Janne (2 Apr 2007)
here’s Janne again with a mix with some dubstep, electro, techno and breakcore. have a blast!Eastern Threat 34 by Mika (26 Mar 2007)
Mika: “this time the threat mostly comes from the west with quite a fearsome fury. prepare to lower your defence and listen to some mellow tunes made by the new and the old legends of jazz just for you. press play. enjoy.”Eastern Threat v5 by Lauri (21 Mar 2007)
quite simply, chamillionaire’s “ridin’ dirty” followed by weird al’s “white and nerdy”. 4real!
also, i have no idea whether this shit’s gonna work, but here goes: My Odeo Channel (odeo/e6cfaad6a07fcaa5)Eastern Threat 33 by Juho (18 Mar 2007)
Juho: “noise/power electronics. featurings acts such as control, navicon torture technologies, prurient, slogun, strom.ec, and so on. i intentionally avoided just putting my favorite pieces together. enjoy.”Eastern Threat 32 by Mikael (12 Mar 2007)
Mikael: “for your listening enjoyment, here's a small sampler of some of the greatest progressive rock ever made! in the mix you'll find both new and old recordings by the popular as well as the less popular bands of the genre.”Eastern Threat 31 by Peter (5 Mar 2007)
remember episode 14? you know, the one by Peter, with a whole bunch of death metal and stuff? well, it’s time to change the pace a little with some ballads straight from the hard rockin’ 1980s. in the words of the man himself, “the perfect soundtrack for those late hours with that special someone”.
enjoy!Eastern Threat 30 by Ronny Pries (26 Feb 2007)
yo! this mix was already released by the man himself last year, but we asked him for permission to release it on the coolest podcast around. yep, that’s right: us! so, without any further ado, here’s Ronny Pries with a two-hour mix of some hot ghetto house!Eastern Threat v4 by Jumalauta (22 Feb 2007)
the truth has been revealed!
“jewish conspiracy” by Jumalauta, 3rd at stream 2006. works on your ipod and shit!Eastern Threat 29 by Superjohan (19 Feb 2007)
another one of these damn mixes where everything goes wrong mixing-wise, but the music is great! some basic channel, some house, more techno, all that... i hope you enjoy it!Eastern Threat 28 by Ghetto B-Boyz (12 Feb 2007)
this one’s been comin’ for quite a while now, but here it is now... the live show Ghetto B-Boyz played at holvi in early november 2006. check out some hot little acid ditties just for you!

Roz gave us his liveset to release, made especially for Eastern Threat! this shit’s gonna rock your socks off. next week, either a Ghetto B-Boyz liveset or rjv’s emo mix. we’ll see, we’ll see! Eastern Threat is always full of surprises...Eastern Threat 24 by Antti (15 Jan 2007)
Antti: “according to answers.com gangsta rap has been criticized for homophobia, misogyny, promiscuity, lack of morality, racism, and materialism... but that's why we love it. here's some classic gangsta rap for your enjoyment.”Eastern Threat 23 by Jenni (8 Jan 2007)
for this first episode of 2007, Jenni prepared us some cool slow tracks for chilling. or something. ennnnjoy!Eastern Threat 22 by Superjohan (30 Dec 2006)
now, boys and girls, it’s time for some hot new year’s eve action, and right in time for the parties, i made a little disco mix for all you hot peeps out there! the mixing is, of course, terribly sloppy and outright horrible at places, but hey, the music rocks! ennnnnjoy, and have a great 2007!Eastern Threat 21 by Janne (21 Dec 2006)
in this episode, Janne gives us a bit more comprehensive selection of genres, if compared to his previous few mixes. starting from heavy noisy beats, then dropping to warm dubstep and reggae, and continuing with a trip to the jungle and jump-up madness. "100% good music", he said.Eastern Threat 20 by raimo (18 Dec 2006)
in this first real episode from raimo, you'll hear some of his old and new favorite dance tracks. and that means mostly pop, so if the name "paris" makes you nauseous, this might not be the episode for you. you'll also hear some remixes of kylie minogue, kelly osbourne and sarah mclachlan. have fun!
oh and check out our blog! the link is up on the page.Eastern Threat 19 by Otto (11 Dec 2006)
another mix by Otto, and this time it’s not drum’n’bass! Otto had this to say: “fuck christmas, easter rocks”. can’t really add anything to that, so go ahead and get this episode, and wait for our fresh package straight from italy next week!Eastern Threat v3 by Lauri (7 Dec 2006)
alright, here’s v3 again, and this time it actually works on ipods! and as an added bonus, Lauri increased the resolution to 640x480! oh joy oh joy!Eastern Threat 18 by Parkerfly (7 Dec 2006)
we’ve been waiting AGES to release this mix by Parkerfly, but he finally got his shit together and gave us a version that was ok for release! anyway, i’m way too tired to describe it any further, so without any further ado, here’s Parkerfly’s mix called “plastic tones”!
ps. we’re gonna try and release music episodes on a weekly basis now, not twice a week as it has been now... some people felt it’s a bit too much :)Eastern Threat 17 by Superjohan (4 Dec 2006)
allllllright, xmas is coming, and to not really celebrate it, i made a really fuckin’ sloppy mix with some quality house and techno! very kompakt-based, yeah. hope you like this moody selection of songs!Eastern Threat 16 by Janne (1 Dec 2006)
Janne made us a drum’n’bass mix! well, i don’t know much about dnb myself so there’s not much i can say ‘cept that it rocks. get it now!Eastern Threat 15 by Ipe (27 Nov 2006)
Ipe made a nice mix for us, and described it thusly: “crap, boring & tired muzak for old sentimental assholes”. that being said, the mix includes songs by depeche mode, speedy j, björk, air and others. enjoy!Eastern Threat 14 by Peter (23 Nov 2006)
Peter made us a nice mix of (mostly) death metal, with bands such as deicide, cannibal corpse, obituary and six feet under. very different from previous episodes, but that’s a good thing!Eastern Threat 13 by bze (20 Nov 2006)
here we go again, with a brand new mix by bze called “incidental”. a nice little mix of the best trip hop around.
of course, bze is one half of Takomo, and rjv (the guy who has done the dnb mixes for Eastern Threat) is the other half. check out their stuff!Eastern Threat 12 by Superjohan (16 Nov 2006)

thanks a lot to Lackluster for letting us release this gem!Eastern Threat 10 by Otto (6 Nov 2006)
Otto beams you up with a 70 minute overdose of dnb geekery. scientific part 2 is harder than the first one, concentrates on deep sci-fi'ish soundscapes as the first one did, but this time supported by pounding beats and ripping basslines. contains tracks from cutting edge producers such as noisia, kemal, phace and ed rush & optical.Eastern Threat 9 by DJ Full Flava (2 Nov 2006)
here’s a lil’ mix by full flava of Ghetto B-Boyz made sometime in the spring of 2006. includes some really hot disco, techno, and electro trax. i bet you’ll dig it!Eastern Threat 8 by Superjohan (1 Nov 2006)

our first video podcast, where dodke shows off his fascination with young girls...Eastern Threat 7 by Jussi (30 Oct 2006)
Jussi: “feel the real soul of the 70s, this mix gives you the perfect feeling that made 70s roll. it takes the smooth songs of the "windy city" and combines them with the unmistakable sound of the "motor city". add to that some tracks from big apple and you're in heaven.”Eastern Threat 6 by Robert (29 Oct 2006)
"tracks that sound good played one after another" is as far as rbrtkbl's description of his mix goes. and because it's anything from seventies jazz-rock drum solo to left-wing propaganda, the word is eeeee-klektic.Eastern Threat 5 by Otto (28 Oct 2006)
a one hour selection of deep, techy drum'n'bass compiled by rjv/mattcurrent in the dark winter of 2003. contains tracks from labels like certificate 18, infrared, metro and underfire, which means you're definitely not going to hear any worn-out anthems rinsed by big name dj's.Eastern Threat 4 by Superjohan (27 Oct 2006)
